5 Day Tour from Kyrgyzstan Osh to Tajikistan Dushanbe via Pamir Highway

This tour starts from Osh and finishing in Dushanbe via Pamir Highway.

 

5 DAY SAMPLE TRIP ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Osh to Karakul view of peak Lenin. 

In the morning we have time  untill lunch to  exploring the old city of Osh, Solomon's hill and a cave museum which pilgrims of Sulaiman's passed through many years ago. At the top of Solomon's ponaramic views of the city of Osh. We also visit the local central market as it is famous in the area. After lunch we leave for Karakul via Alai and Chon Alai valley, which has the best views of TienShan and Pamir Alai high mountains. In these passes there are many Kyrgyz nomads who come with their animals for summer pasture with yurts and we can stop talk and taste the Horse milk, cow, yak  milk products etc. such as Airan, Kymyz and Kurut. We may also be fortunate enough to attend locals festivals, horse game etc. We then cross the border, first the Kyrgyz border then at the top of Kyzylart pass 4282m the Tajik border. Early in the evening we get to Karakul lake to enjoy the sunset scenery of this spectacular lake and peak Lenin and the Pamir mountains. Tonight we stay near the lake in the small village at homestay Saadat. BLD

Day 2: Karakul to Murghab Via Rankul lakes & Pishart valley Gumbezkol gorge alp summer pasture.

Today we drive through the second highest pass, Akbaital at 4,655m, en route we visit the First Russian fort from 1873 years. Before Russians came that building was a caravansarray during the Silk Road era. At the top of pass we have a break, photo and short hike. Before we gett to Murghab we visit Lake Rankul and one of the summer pastures, Gumbezkol in the Pishart valley. Here we will have a couple of hours to see the yaks and witness nomad life. Then we drive to Murghab town where i am from. It is a capital town of the region with a population 17,000  with a majority of Kyrgyz people. Homestay Eraly. BLD

Day 3: Murghab to Jilandi via Jartygumbez, Mashaly, Alichor, Bulunkul & Yashilkul Lakes.

In the morning we quickly do some sightseeing of Murghab town inclduing the ocal market, Lenin statue and other things such as handcraft women community hand made products shop, and having conversations with local poeple. We then leave to Jartygumbez via Shahkty cave rock paintings and may see wild life such as Ibex, Marcopolo sheep, fox, wolf, etc. At Jartygumbez there is a nice warm swimming pool where we a swim and relax. Lunch is in Mashaly summer pasture (altitude is 4250m) where there is a yurt camp. You'll see Pamirs yaks, sheep, goas and enjoy the amazing landscape. In the afternoon we leave for Jilandi via Alichor, Bulunkul & Yashilkul lakes. We cross the Koitezek pass early in the evening and get to Jilandi hot springs. There is a guesthouse with a big warm swimming pool and we have a nice relaxing time. BLD

Day 4: Jilandi to Khalaikum via Khorog (along the spectacular Afghanistan border).

From Jilandi we have an early morning start. We have a couple of hours drive from Jilandi to Khorog on the Pamir Highway through Gund valley, a narrow beautiful green valley. Today there is a chance to see the Afghan poeple at the Ishkashim market if if is Saturday. This market runs every Saturday on an island between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. We then leave to Khalaikum via Rushan village and cross the Bartang river by the bridge, Vanj river and Vanj valley. We can see across the river Panj to Afghanistan for the whole daywhere we can watch the people annd the stunning scenery. Homestay Roma. BLD

Day 5: Khalaikum to Dushanbe via Kulob (along the spectacular Afghanistan border).

After breakfast we leave for Dushanbe via southern route Kulob.  For the first 100km's you have a chance to see the Afghan villages.After Shurobod pass we get to Kulob and visit the historical sight of Mirsaidaali Hamodonie's museum and Madrassas complex. Lunch in Kulob, next stop is Khulbuk where there is a Khulbuk fortress belonging to the 9 & 11th centuries. We then go to Dushanbe through Sharshar pass and tunnel and get views of the Nurak dam. The lake is green in colour and there is spectacular scenery from the pass. Welcome to Dushanbe the capital city of Tajikistan, you've just completed an unforgettable journey.
