Our 8, 10 & 12 Day Itineraries from Osh/Biskek, Kyrgystan to Dushanbe, Tajikistan!

 

 

All 3 of these tours start from Kyrygstan and go to Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Our driver will meet you at the airport, railway station or border with a sign with your name.

 

 

8 DAY APPROXIMATE TRIP ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Osh to Tulparkol lake. 

In the morning we have time  untill lunch to  exploring the old city of Osh, Solomon's hill and a cave museum which pilgrims of Sulaiman's passed through many years ago. At the top of Solomon's ponaramic views of the city of Osh. We also visit the local central market as it is famous in the area. After lunch we leave for Karakul via Alai and Chon Alai valley, which has the best views of TienShan and Pamir Alai high mountains. In these passes there are many Kyrgyz nomads who come with their animals for summer pasture with yurts and we can stop talk and taste the Horse milk, cow, yak  milk products etc. such as Airan, Kymyz and Kurut. We may also be fortunate enough to attend locals festivals, horse game etc. Arrive in Tulparkol and stay in a yurt. BLD

Day 2: Tulparkol to Karakul lake 3,950m. 

In the morning we can take a small walk around the camp as we have beatiful scenery of peak Lenin and sunrise views from up the hill behind the yurt. We then cross the border, first the Kyrgyz border then at the top of Kyzylart pass 4282m the Tajik border. Early in the evening we get to Karakul lake to enjoy the sunset scenery of this spectacular lake and peak Lenin and the Pamir mountains. Tonight we stay near the lake in the small village at homestay Saadat. BLD

Day 3: Karakul to Bulunkul lake.
 
Today we drive along the Pamir Highway tp Akbaital pass at 4,655m. We pass through my hometown of Murghab to do some sightseeing including the Lenin statue and lunch. We then go to Bulunkul and Yashilkul lakes via Alichor village and en route visit the Shahty cave rock paintings in an incredible offroad valley that are from 800-500 years B.C. We then cross the Naiza Tash pass at 4,132m as see the fish at the Akbalik Spring. At Alichor we stop for sightseeing and for lunch. after all this way we get a view of Yashilkul Lake and get to Bulunkul lake. Here there is a small village pf Pamir people. We then enjoy free time at the lake and stay at homestay Aziz. BLD
 

Day 4: Bulunkul to Yamgchun (Wakhan valley). 

From Bulunkul we leave for Yamchun in the Wakhan valley through the Khargush pass to Langar. We follow the Afghan border and perhaps see Afghan caravans across the Panj river. At lunch time we get to Langar and after we visit petroglyphs then continue the trip to Yamgchun en route we visit the Buda stupa in Vrang village, Sufi museum in Yamg village and drive up a gorge to the top of the a pass where we visit the Yamgchun fortress. It is near by Biby Fotima hot springs where we can have a nice swim and relax with views of the Hindu Kush high mountains. Guesthouse Pamir .BLD

Day 5: Yamchun to Khorog via Ishkashim.

We leave to Khorog via the Darshai shrine and Namangud Kakha fortress. Ishkashim is the center town of the Wakhan valley and there you'd we have lunch before leving for Khorog via Garmchashma canyon. We quickly drive into the canyon for sightseeing and leave to Khorog town. In Khorog we visit the Botanical gardens ontop of the mountain for ponaramic views of the town and also see the garden. If we have time we will visit the local museum and market. Guesthouse Laalmo. BLD

Day 6: Khorog to Bartan Valley, Geisev.
 
From Khorog we drive a couple of hours to Bartang valley and enjoy the scenery a long the river Panj. In Rushan we turn to the right into Bartan in half an hour we stop at the bridge of Geisev. We leave the car to hike up (only 7kms) to the Geisev canyon where there is the most beatiful exotic ponaramic views of several small lakes. You will stay in this village overnight at an authentic homestay and walk back to the car tomorrow. BLD
 
Day 7: Geisev to Khalaikum.
 
In the morning our driver will pick you up from where the hike started and then start the trip to Khalaikum. Again, you'll have the chance to see the Afghan poeple in the market Ishkashim market if it is a Saturday. We then leave to Khalaikum via Rushan village and cross the Bartang river by the bridge, Vanj river and Vanj valley. Again, across the river Panj we can see Afghanistan for the whole day. Get to Khalaikum and stay at homestay Roma. BLD
 

Day 8: Khalaikum to Dushanbe via Kulob.           

In the morning we explore Khalaikum and after breakfast we leave for Dushanbe via the southern route Kulob. The first 100km you have chance to see the Afghan villages again. After Shurobod pass we get to Kulob and visit the historical sight of Mirsaidaali Hamodonie's museum and Madrassas complex. Lunch is in Kulob and our next stop is in Khulbuk where there is a fortress belonging to the 9 and 11th century. Then we go to Dushanbe through the Sharshar pass and tunnel and get great views of the Nurak dam. The lake is green in colorand there is great scenery. welcome to Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. Accommodation will be booked and paid for by yourself. BL

Day 3: Karakul to Jalan summer pasture.      
  
Today you drive off-road to Jalan summer pasture. Here you will witness nomadic life in the high altitude. On the way to Jalang we drive to the hill and do a short hike for the best view of the Karakul lake. In Jalan poeple are living in yurts. We explore the place including seeing petroglyphs and also here is a good chance to see the Marcopolo sheep, ibex, fox, wolf etc. Jalan is a very beautiful place you can feel the wilderness and less travelled area. Overnight in a yurt. BLD
 
Day 4: Jalan to Rankul Jolborluk summer pasture.
 
After breakfast leave for Jolborluk via Akbaital pass at 4,655m. Jolborluk is another yurt camp where people come for summertime with their animals. En route we stop to see the first Russian fort in the area from 1873. Before this the fort was a Caravan Saray during the Silk Road era. At the top of the high pass we have some break for photos and a little hike on the roof of the world which will be a very nice experience for. From Rankul you leave the Pamir Highway into the big valley in an area we call Rankul. There are a couple of small beautiful lakes and also a small village. We have our picnic at the lake and enjoy the scenery, then to village we visit the handcraft museum at school. After sightseeing we drive to Jolborluk and in the early evening get to yurt camp. You can take a walk around the camp. Sleep in a yurt. BLD
 
Day 5: Jolborluk to Murghab by jeep and short hike.
 
Early in the morning surrounded by beautiful scenery we see local women milking yaks. After breakfast you can go trekking for a couple of hours from the camp to Seineston valley across the Kakack Tash pass. Your driver will follow by car behind you and will pick you up at lunch time. Then leave for Murghab via Suubashi along the river Aksuu. Murghab is my hometown and is a small central town of Eastern Pamir with a population 17,000. In the town you can visit the local market, handcraft shops, Lenin statue and central mosque. We stay at homestay Eraly. BLD
 
Day 6: Murghab to Bulunkul lake.
 
Today we drive by Pamir Highway to Bulunkul and Yashilkul lakes via Alichor village, en route visit the Shahty cave rock paintings from 800-500 years B.C. From Bulunkul we leave for Yamchun in the Wakhan valley through the Khargush pass to Langar. We follow the Afghan border and perhaps see Afghan caravans across the Panj river. Today if we are here on a Sateurday you'll have the chance to see the Afghan poeple at the famous Ishkashim market which is between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.  We then leave leave to Khalaikum via Rushan village and cross the Bartang River by the bridge. The whole day we will have views across the river Panj into Afghanistan which shows spectacular scenery. Get to Khalaikum home stay Roma. BLD

12 DAY APPROXIMATE TRIP ITINERARY

 

 

Day 1: Bishkek to Sonkol alpine lake.

Bishkek is the capital city of Kyrgystan. It is a special administrative unit and is a city of republican subordination.The city is located in the north of Kyrgyzstan, in the Chui valley at the foothills of the Tienshan. Our guide will meet you at your hotel or at the airport, welcoming you cup of tea and to discuss the programme. We then leave for Sonkol or we can first quickly visit the towns central squire, museum etc. we then leave to Sonkol via Tokmok, Kemin, Balikchi, Kochkor, Saribulak, and Moldo Ashuu pass. En route we visit the Burana tower in Tokmok where there are Balbal tash stone figures. we have a lunch stop in Kochkor and a view of the Issikkol Lake in Balikchi, Eraly. in the evening you'll get to Sonkol where there is a nice lake and yurt camp. Enjoy the sunset ponarama views. Stay at yurt Janish. BLD

 Day 2: Sonkol relaxing day.

From breakfast untill lunch you will have free time for horse back riding and walking around the lake. Sonkol lake is the largest alpine lake, sandwiched in an alley between the internal ridges of the Tien Shan. Yurt stay. BLD

Day 3: Sonkol to Osh.

Early morning we leave for Osh. Today is a really long distance but it is spectacularly scenery and you'll see amazing life of the Kyrgyz nomads. Getting to Osh late in the day so after you check in to the hotel let's go for dinner at one of best local restuarants Choihona Osh. Enjoy the delicious meal! Hotel Sunrise. BLD

Day 6: Karakul Lake to Murghab.

Today we'll drive over the second highest pass, Akbaital at 4,655m. En route we will visit the First Russian fort belongs from 1873. Before Russian's came this building was a caravansarray during the Silk Road era. Before getting to Murghab you'll visit one of the mountain summer pastures (Gumbezkol) in the Pishart valley. We will be there a couple of hours to see the yaks and be witness nomad life then drive to Murghab town. This capital town is my hometown and has a population of 17,000 of which the majority are Kyrgyz people. We will stay at homestay Eraly. BLD

 

Day 7: Murghab to Jartygumbez, Mashaly.

Today you'll have the chance to see real and remote nomadic postural life summer at a high altitude. In the morning we visit the local handicraft shop, the market (built out of old shipping containers) and the famous Lenin statue. We then leave to Jartygumbez via the Shahkty cave rock paintings in a stunning offroad valley and wild life watch for Ibex, Marcopolo sheep, fox, wolf, Once at Jartygumbez there is a nice warm swimming pool so we can relax. After lunch we drive up to Mashaly summer pasture at 4,250m where there is a yurt camp. You'll see the Pamir yaks, sheep and goats and enjoy the amazing landscape. Sleep in the yurt. BLD

Day 8: Mashaly to Alichor via Kenshiber.

After breakfast we leave for Alichor via Kenshiber, Belayrik pass 4,320m. From Mashaly we drive by car for a few hours then we walk to the Belayrik gorge approx 12km return distance. It will take about 4 hours and during the trek perhaps you'll see Marcopolo sheep and other animals. You will get a view of the Zorkul lake (Victoria lake). This lake is situated in the middle of the Tajikistan and Afghanistan border. This is a great wilderness area and full of different kinds of birds and fishes in the lake. We can get a view of the lake at the top of pass then walk back to the car and continue the trip to Alichor village via Chatirtash tash. Get to Alichor village and stay at homestay Tursunbai. BLD

Day 9: Alichor to Yamgchun in the Wakhan valley (following stunning Afghan border).

From Alichor we leave for the Wakhan valley via Khargush pass at 4,235m. We visit the beautiful lakes of Bulunkul, Yashilkul then Khargush pass and from here we go to Langar. We follow the Afghan border and perhaps we will see Afghan caravans across the Panj rver. At lunch we get to Langar and after lunch we visit hundreds of petroglyphs. Then we continue the trip to Yamgchun and en route visit the Buda stupa in Vrang village, Sufi museum in Yamg village. We drive up the gorge to the top of the pass and visit Yamgchun fortress. Then we get to guesthouse Pamir which is close to Biby Fotima hot springs where there is a swimming pool. Enjoy a nice hot swim and relax with views of the Hindu Kush high mountains. Day 10: Wakhan Yamchun to Khorog via Ishkashim.

Early in the morning we leave to Khorog via Darshai shrine and Namangud Kakha fortress. Ishkashim is the central town of the Wakhan valley here we'll have lunch then leave for Khorog via Garmchashma canyon. We quickly drive into the canyon for sightseeing and leave to Khorog town. In Khorog we visit the Botanical gardens ontop of the mountains where there is a ponaramic a view of the town and valley. You can also see the garden with many different trees etc. If we have time we can visit the local museum, market,etc. Guesthouse Laalmo. BLD

Day 11:  Khorog to Khalaikum (along the spectacular Afghanistan border).
